It seems like if there is an altercation between different races then it is automatically racism & there must be protests.
What happened to people just being bad people & committing crimes because they wanted to?
I agree that race is brought up too often, and as a result, it desensitized us to situations when it actually applies.
This is a situation where it may actually apply. First, Gasser was released within 18 hours of his arrest while Will Smith's killer never left prison. Second, if you paid attention to the earlier threads, you'll see many people who suggested Gasser had a reasonable fear for his life because he was boxed in and being approached by a black man in New Orleans.
Now I know what the statistics say, and I'm not arguing this was racism or even racially motivated. However, I can't help but feel like this would have been handled differently by Gasser if McKnight was white and perhaps by the JPSO if Gasser was black.

The jury in Orleans can convict of manslaughter if it wants to.

just don't think the jury will convict him beyond a reasonable doubt on the current charges. Who knows though.
His life is ruined either way. He will sit in trial forever, so, even if innocent, his life is changed forever
Just FTR...i was talking about Hayes not Gasser

Are those pre-made signs so they can just pull them out when needed...

Will be interesting to see what changed before when he was sprung until now. Maybe new witnesses?

Is that Randy Travis' long lost brother...

Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize the other 4 links that people posted
You should be sorry. That is some lazy arse work. Start a post with a title and expect people to add the links and info then expect people to click on the thread and read through it to find the info. Like I said lazy.

If I'm not mistaken didn't Smith's shooter exit his vehicle and fire on Smith and his wife? Where casings showed Gasser never left his car. If I remember that correctly then that is a huge difference. Exiting and firing is an act of aggression, where never leaving the vehicle can be a sign of self-defense.

Oh no. Nothing like that. It just sounds worse to slaughter a man as opposed to simply murdering him.
Ok. That makes more sense now.

Most of us handle situation differently due to color in these parts. A lot of time for good reason unfortunately.

Where in the article do you see that Batiste left to get a gun and then came back to shoot Vicknair? Vicknair attacked him through the window and Batiste shot him in the chest.

Yet, Batiste is sitting in jail right now for defending himself.
