I was lucky enough to be able to buy my two tone sub (black dial) at the local AD this past month but see the market slowing down. For those with more established relationships, does this mean I can likely get a second one sooner?

Maybe, but why do you care how I spend my money?

Then why do rich people wear them?

I have a Datejust that I bought for my wedding that I wore Saturday for the first time in years. Figured I might as well wear it even though I feel kind of pretentious wearing it.

Maybe if you consider your fellow respiratory therapists and nurses "rich"

Wealthy people don't wear submariners

I like Rolex, but when you can get a Vacheron Overseas for the same price, and a Breguet or Blancpain for considerably less...

Trust me I love the blue over seas but I don’t think your comment is accurate. My two tone sub was 15k or so while cheapest steel overseas is 22k. Also the blue one is a boutique exclusive which means I’ll never get it

I was going by Chrono24. They're going for 15-20 there, which is comparable to a higher end Sub or lower end GMT Master II, and considerably less than most Daytonas. Of course it's different through an AD but not many people are getting them through ADs.

JFC

I go to plenty of Red Bars and other watch GTG and know plenty of people that are wealthy by any standard that wear Rolex SS models. They are more prestigious in many ways than precious metal versions.

They are thousands of Subs that sit side by side in people's watch boxes with Pateks, APs, Langes, and Vacherons.

ETA to the OP: it will certainly help but there are just no guarantees, there could be a dozen long term customers waiting with the AD for what you decide you want next. The waitlists are half fantasy and half who picks up the phone at the right time.

You’re out of your element, there are definitely wealthy people who wear submariners. That doesn’t mean that everyone who wears one is wealthy, but your statement is false.

The one I bought has a silver face and i just gaudier than I am used to wearing. I like wearing my Apple watch with steel band as much as anything. When it goes, I will probably go back to a Garmin Fenix rather than another Apple watch.

Oh look, it’s the thread where a bunch of people that can’t afford a Rolex explain why a Rolex sucks

Steel Daytonas I think are like 18k. I don’t know how I feel about second hand watches. I get the need for the gray market but getting one from AD feels different
