Anyone know the status of the monuments removed a few years ago?

Are they still being held captive in Mitch's wood shack jail in the east?

Not in the east, but the big box is still there. Can't see if they are still inside.

It's more important to remember that this will help reduce crime in New Orleans and make us all safer. Just like when they took Lee's statue down. Just look at how much better things got once we got that rolling.

Has anyone of importance actually claimed that removing statues will reduce crime?

If we keep getting rid of the history of NO, what people come down here to see and experience, WTF are tourists going to come here to see?

I like Toussant, but is he really the best they can do? I guess Armstrong already had the airport, and naming it after the Nevilles would only make them more obnoxious than they already are, but I feel like a really big name is being overlooked.

What about Fats Domino? Does he have too many enemies in NOLA govt. or something? Toussant is really only known by locals.

I posted earlier, Toussaint lived on Robert E Lee for decades.

When the initial pushback came there was talk of renaming just the stretch in Gentilly to Toussaint. The family declined saying just leave it REL if that was the solution. They didn't think their father would want to push the racial divide part of two names for different areas of the city.

Had they been trying to rename Laurel Street I don't think there would be any resistance.

Fat's was supposed to have something named after him. Can't remember if it was his actual name or some play on Blueberry Hill. I'll see if I can find it.

Caffin Avenue near his house in the lower 9th
