Well damn, just damn it. Saw them on their return concert at the PMAC and stayed sober so that I could enjoy the music. RIP Gary Rossington and I hope they put that slide on your finger so you could take it with you.

Most people never get to find out if it's true or not. I guess it beats the alternatives.

My uncle (my namesake) was the last man standing from his undergraduate Class at MIT, as a result of it, he had a very nice bottle of French wine to share with only me, a person who could hardly spell MIT without assistance.

Your point is understandable, but having all of your peers in a graveyard must suck.

Yes, you're right. I'm sure it does suck, just like seeing your direct family members pass. Fortunately, many of my family remain, but some have gone before. Still the will to live is built into each of us. Few would change places with the dead, given the choice. I know my mother would gladly change places with my brother who has passed, but she is elderly, and has always been a person of deep faith.

I mentioned the concert at the Cajundome.

There was a guy on the side of me with Confederate shirt. He had tickets for Baton Rouge that fateful night.

He happened to check ticket availability a couple of hours before show time. They had released front row tickets and was blown away., feet away from Rossington.

Went to the crash site last year. The old tree was blown over by the hurricane Ida. I’ve still got pictures of it, can’t post on this damn site

The manager of Ticketmaster called me and asked if I wanted tickets for the concert that night. I said who and where? Skynyrd, front row. Oh hell yeah!

that band died in a plane crash in Mississippi in 1977, I can't think of a more horrible and shameless band than what they "became" after that

Dumb post. They are carrying on a legacy that Ronnie would have approved of. They are great people and live a humble lifestyle here in a small town out of Jacksonville.

I canceled Skynard when I heard that Anti gun song Saturday Night Special.

The solo from Freebird

Gary played the slide solo on the verses (slow part). The raucous explosion of sound on the back half of the record was mostly Allen Collins, with Ed King shadowing and replying. Gary played rhythm on that part.

If you haven't seen the documentary "If I Leave Here Tomorrow," watch it. It's on Netflix.

Yes, with wife Dale Krantz on vocals. “Don’t Misunderstand Me” is an absolute jam and I can’t turn it up loud enough.

That, but I put the Knebworth show and blowing the Stones off their own stage higher.

Freebird live at Knebworth

Ol' Mick and the boys didn't even want to take the stage. They demanded Skynard stay off of the tongue catwalk. Well, Ronnie had other ideas. I still get chills watching that one.

This is kind of personal for me. I was 11 when the plane went down, but I was a fan.

Ronnie wrote “That Smell” about Gary. He crashed his car into an oak tree while drunk and knocked all his teeth out. Gary did every drug known to man. It’s amazing that he lived as long as he did.

I think it was somewhere south of $50.00.

More like south of $10. I went to a lot of shows at the Centreplex and Assembly Center at that time. Shows were usually $7 or $8. Tshirts were like $10-12.

Jax, the latest documentary has Gary pointing out his grave site I guess In orange park cemetery. You could go watch the funeral from a distance.
I really need to come do Gene Odom tour before he is gone as well.
I love the music and history.

This one hurts.

RIP to Gary and long-live the greatest southern rock band to ever grace this realm.

The band is about to have their first gig since October 19 in 77. I bet it’s a hell of a show.

Skynyrd was just soooo great. What a catalog they have and sadly it was cut short. One More from The Road is an all time live album.
