I can't speak to the psychology of the drunk riders but drunk riders should not be a thing. I know a few people who ride and really it's only a big excuse to get wasted for them. You hear stories of kegs on floats, barely being able to stand by the end of the parade, vomit buckets, hangovers.
Anyone spending $4k just to get drunk has a problem.
This thread is full of trolls and people butthurt they aren't able to ride.

Do you know how to use a period? Good god man. It was like reading something a 10 year old wrote.

100. Comus, Momus and Proteus chose to give up parading when Taylor put the screws to them to open up.
The other krewes begrudgingly opened up membership because the parade wan priority #1 and they needed the city permits.
It's like fn country clubs who fought open membership tooth and nail to maintain their racism against blacks, jews, asians and catholics.
Even though the parades are required to be open, I don't see any asian riders or members. Outsiders are definitely made to feel like outsiders and eventually terminate their membership. That's how the racism and segregation is maintained post-Taylor.
The irony of these two african americans that were killed at parades celebrating white racism is hard to over look. The only thing more obvious would be for them to have been run over at a Nazi march or KKK parade.
I really don't understand why people of color attend these parades when it celebrates a heritage of racism and segregation. Fact is most people are ignorant about it.

14, 3rd section, NG side at the very front. Sounds like each section will have a tractor now though so hopefully it doesn't change anything.

Just my one section of one float alone has white, black, Asian, and Hispanic dudes on it.

Hell yeah, I'll find you.
Apparently all of our throws this year are speciality throws so I'll have tons of good stuff. No more plain plastic it sounds like.

I remember grandparents talk about how Dorthy Mae Taylor secured her legacy as the second most hated person in the city's history.

Good Lord my man, go see a therapist. You’re obviously oppressing some deep shite. I’ve ridden/walked everything from the Sugarcane Festival Parade as a little boy to Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Parades in NOLA...and I assure you I get all the attention I can handle at home or anywhere else I go. I do imbibe, as I do while tailgating, but not in a manner in which I’m acting “obnoxious or unruly”. Well, not to my standards any way.

When I rode in Chalmette they tell you drinking isn’t allowed but not enforced. They just need to say that for insurance purposes.

You have shown me the light! If I ever ride I will stay sober and try to get the rest of the float to stay sober as well!

quote:So does this mean there won’t be a Top 10 Alcoholic Beverages for the Parade Route or a Top 10 Beads to see Titties?
The drunkenness, sexual depravity, littering, foul language, and spot claiming with ladder rows, tarps and tents along the route remind us how fallen our world is.
New Orleans is such a contradiction.
