Since I got Uranus, I made another. It’s either super easy or doesn’t give enough clues. I haven’t decided

They say I’m archaic,
and this riddle’s prosaic,
but I can back up and go forth.
Things go out and come in,
I can preserve lots of sins,
I’ve often been needed in court.
I can’t help on a date
But I can wipe a clean slate,
Should you need my service henceforth.
