Yea I agree it’s absurd. If they only have 25% and higher or “other”, it tends to rub me the wrong way and I’ll tip less

People like that are the worst. About as trashy as you can get. And they’ll lecture you at the start to lay out the rules etc. thankfully they tend to patronize the lower end restaurants so if you work at a nice place you don’t have to deal with that as much.

I had one just like that start at 20% as the lowest suggested amount. 15% was always the norm. Then is became 18% but service isn’t near what it used to be anywhere. I still don’t see why it should be percent based. If I order a $10 salad and water vs a $40 steak and $4 tea you didn’t do anything different. Yet you expect me to give you more money.
