How long does it take to get a permit from EBR permit office? Contractor filed for removing a structural wall on Wednesday.

This makes me feel good.

Said we had to have a permit, and I said no we don't. Since I am dealing with a government entity I am assuming there is no way I can speed this up?

Double your wait to 6 months for pissing them off.

all BS aside, if you remove or alter a structural component of a residential dwelling you are supposed to have a permit. the reason i was laughing is that DPW states it will take 2 weeks. real world wait time is +/- 6 weeks. their on-going excuse is "we are understaffed". the backlog of residential reviews are now supposed to be outsourced. i'm not sure how that is working out.

I love it when a client "knows someone that can speed this up" :rotflmao: That usually ends up doubling the time.

You have to remember the mission statement of govt. employees... "I don't care how much it costs as long as it makes my job easier"

The homeowner should want the work stamped by a structural engineer, only a fool would trust a contractor to design and replace a load bearing wall in their house.

Email DPW some dick pics and pics of your wife just for good measure. Either way that should help speed things up
