but where I live in Baldwin county with an hvac co and a home design company, we’ve never been busier with new home construction.
There isn’t a major immigration operation going on in Baldwin county, so I’m not sure how your post even applies to this situation

I'm hearing that residential construction is basically shutting down for a bit in Nola/BR due to the ICE sweeps with workers hiding. Anyone seeing this?
I work in the industry in the financial side. There were some raids in Jacksonville and it was basically shut down for a week. It’s the builders’ fault for hiring illegals.

I don’t know about major, but there’s absolutely been ICE sweeps across the gulf coast including Alabama and Florida.
But what did you expect OP? I mean ICE sweeps aren’t going to make construction cheaper temporarily if a good portion of the labor pool is taken away. I don’t know what else to say here?

Jesus Christ man, it’s like your being intentionally obtuse. No one is asking about general trends in residential construction. This is literally about this past week, and the next few weeks going forward as there is a concentrated major operation going on in south Louisiana at the moment. Almost all Hispanics, legal or not, are staying at home right now. There is nothing that is going on in Alabama right now that is relevant to the conversation

Yes, seems like the ones being framed in OM and Lakeview are at a standstill.
One being built across the street hasn't had any workers since ICE arrived. I would be pissed if I was the owner.

If Illegals are doing all of the construction work, what kind of jobs do kids going to college do in the summers?
They are playing video games and complaining that boomers ruined everything.

Hell yes. I have 3 major projects going on next to and across the street from me. They were working Thanksgiving noisy ad fuk, and trashing my yard. Anytime I tried to ask them to pick up demo debris off my yard, no comprende Ingles. By Saturday, all three sites were ghost towns. Nothing since.
These workers have zero respect for anything or anyone, trash everywhere. Parking anywhere.

Commercial construction crews too. Many have taken the next few weeks off and are staying on the down low.

america is nothing but a paycheck for them. Their reputation doesn't matter here so why work to preserve it?
They are paid to get work done as quick as possible, not complain and gtfo the jobsite if they get hurt.

Actual contractors that have legal employees can now big jobs and get them without being undercut from the ones hiring illegals who they pay cheep and don’t have to pay payroll taxes on…..
And I am here for it. So tired of getting outbid on projects that we pay prevailing wages for, and Jose’s crew can come in with 1/3 the labor costs. This is long overdue.
