Residential architect or home designer recommendations in Greater BR area?

Asking for a friend.
Friend is wanting to move away from cookie cutter, builder type floor plans. Understands the potential additional cost vs. going with what builder presents.
And on that same note, any builders to look closer into and ones to absolutely avoid?

John Tee is out of Atlanta, I think, and is featured in Southern Living homes.
Many of his house designs have a wonderful southern appeal and a Louisiana appeal. Take a look at his plans.

Madden Home Design in Denham. Steve did a condo redesign for us on the Tickfaw and also just did a new home in Ponchatoula for a coworker of mine which is absolutely gorgeous. It is definitely not a cookie-cutter house. Been in business for many years and great at what he does.
