Saw the title and first thing that came to mind was tetherball... ..didn't think it's make the cut...then the last pic..fookin aye man!!! best playground game ever.
those big, splintered up, raggedy-arse, green wooden boxes that weighed about 300 lbs., two player game with big wooden sticks and cantaloupe-sized wood ball... almost heavy as a shot put... that BREC used to bring out to playgrounds during the summer got pretty intense, too. name? ..box hockey or something??

Yeah that's Howell. It was a pretty ghetto area by the late 80s. The main entrance is off of Winbourne.

Yeah it would have been rough by then. My great aunt lived right behind Piggy Wiggly off of Winbourne until she died in about 94-95.

She was 95+ years old around then so nobody really messed with her. The had lived there since the 30s or 40s. She was born in 1899 and died my senior year in HS.

I remember swinging as high as we could then jumping out.

I have very distinct memories of those Hamburgerler bars from the McDonald’s on Vets and Cleary.
The GOAT McDonalds playground was on Metairie Rd where the PJ’s is now.
