How old are you? Hasn't been that way where I'm from since I started school. That was in the late 60s.

fricking this. I don't think they ever cancelled school for weather events unless it was the day before a Hurricane. shite nowadays is ridiculous.
And yeah, I remember starting school the week before or of Labor Day. Start of school was getting progressively earlier tho back then.

I do, September the 1st, went for a few days, off for Labor day. No A/C til the 8th grade, and no AC on the busses.

We still start after Labor Day in Oregon. Of course, school doesn't get out until mid-June...
