Apparently your fun fact is wrong according to your own Excommunicated Catholics are still Catholics link.
"In short, while there are some ways for a Catholic to cease juridically being a Catholic (e.g., “defection” from the Church, a topic too far afield from ours)"

No matter what. Once you're in, you're in for life (according to the Church at least).
I've been told this as well by an aunt of mine who is a raging Catholic.
I was christened as a Catholic when I was a baby. My father's side of the family was Catholic, so it was to appease them. My father didn't go to church, so I grew up going to church with my mother, who was Baptist. When I was 13, I was baptized.
It wasn't long after that my aunt was all "Once you're Catholic, you're always a Catholic!" I just went pfffft....whatever.

For me at least, they can count me all they won't, but I'll just be sleeping in on Sundays from here on out.
I'm sure with this news, they will be closing their doors soon. Thank you for letting us all know.

True, you can formally defect, but the Church considers your baptism as a seal or character that "is an ontological and permanent bond which is not lost by reason of any act or fact of defection".
Which is fine cause I'm not giving up a belief and devotion to Christ. Just my affiliation to the Catholic Church.

Wikipedia says it's still possible to defect from the Catholic Church. Apparently, you use to be able to fill out a form.
quote:
In late August 2010, the Holy See confirmed that it was no longer possible to defect formally from the Catholic Church.[10] However, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin declared on 12 October 2010 that it intended to keep a register of those who expressed the wish to defect.[10][11] Since this fell short of making an annotation in the baptismal register, CountMeOut (an association in the archdiocese that had been promoting formal defections from the Catholic Church) thereupon ceased to provide defection forms.[12][13]
Although the act of "formal defection" from the Catholic Church has thus been abolished, public or "notorious" (in the canonical sense)[14] defection from the Catholic faith or from the communion of the Church is of course possible, as is expressly recognized in the Code of Canon Law.[15] Even defection that is not known publicly is subject to the automatic spiritual penalty of excommunication laid down in canon 1364 of the Code of Canon Law.

Why isn’t parkview a real church?

You mad the priest moved on to a younger boy?

In that same article...

You would still be "officially" leaving/defecting from the Church, which I would say would suffice for his fun fact failure though.

Combination of factors really. Many to count, but some on the top of my head would be the failure to excommunicate catholic politicians who openly support abortion, sex scandal that was obviously covered up for decades, and the economically-socialist Pope who is more concerned about people's feelings than the teachings of the Bible.

No, cause the church still doesn't consider it a permanent break.

The sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and holy orders leave indelible marks on the recipient’s soul.

You say that like it's a good thing.

Sure, you can no longer attend church, or even become an atheists or Satanist, but the Church still counts you among its ranks
So what? What difference does it make if the Church "counts" you if you are not participating anyway?
