OMV isn’t much help, so I had to come to the fountain of knowlege. I bought a 1928 Ford w a 350 that has a bonded title. The omv doesn’t accept bonded titles for normal cars, but they have a streetrod specific registration. If I meet all the other requirements for a streetrod will they register it with a bonded title? Thanks in advance, I know it’s trashy..

Where are you located? You need to find one of the private tag and title places to help you out. No one at dmv is going to help you

Well actually. Just registered an antique car with some title issues last week. Couldn’t get help online or on the phone and went to LSP HQ on Independence Blvd. They have a section in the HQ Building NOT AT THE DMV and they had me in and out in 30 minutes.

Probably not the smartest move.

The state of Louisiana doesn't take a bonded title from any state. You can not get a title here for it. You are better off selling it. I will look you statute and post it.

I fool with cars buy and sell and always make sure title is clear.

Here is your answer. I would not fool with it. To much red tape.

What exactly is a bonded title?

It's the same thing as a salvaged title, which makes sense considering the type of car. It just means a Surety will step in an pay a claim if you lose a judgement against someone claiming the car is theirs, in the event you are unable to.Seemingly it protects the OMV, so I'm not sure as to why it's not allowed.
