Fix old buildings, get better tenants, increase street lighting and police presence, clean streets and sidewalks more, and herd the homeless and gutter punks into another area.

Can we start with sprucing up the tent city under the interstate
I think they should put sprinklers under the interstate and play Hanson on a loop.

What additional steps will be taken to remove beggars and the criminal element? Prediction: nothing.
What additional steps will be taken to force current property owners to spend money to maintain and improve the properties? Prediction: nothing.

It appears that LaToya is speaking the only language that Motwani understands -- $$$. All the threats and moratoriums in the world have had no effect on him, but allowing unlimited short-term rentals in Canal Street buildings is finally having an impact.

Other than crime and vagrants, lack of parking will always be an impediment

Driving through for the last Saints game I've definitely noticed a lot of CX going on down there. I hope she follows through.

The Sazerac Hotel and Hard Rock Hotel coming up are a good start for revitalization of that area.
Yep. And one of the run down shitholes closer to the interstate appears to be getting renovated now as well.
As others have said, those bus stops are 75% of the problem on Canal.
I know it's technically not Canal, but the damn World Trade Center remake by Four Seasons needs to start soon. If that a-hole lawyer wouldn't have filed the suit about the bid, they would be well into construction now.
