Recommendation: St Pete Beach or Clearwater Beach?

I'll be in Tampa for about a week at the end of March for some training. Decided to spend an extra few days there with the wife. For those of you who have been, which beach would you recommend and how much will spring break college kids play a factor?

Clearwater.
Too bad you won't be there when the fishing is good

Meh, my wife would be mad since I'll have been a week without really seeing her. These extra days are for dates/bonding I guess.

How old are you and what do you like to do? If you would prefer a beach with perfect white, soft sand and hardly any if at all spring breakers... go to Siesta Key. It's been rated among the best beaches in the country, but it doesn't have the club/restaurant/crowds that the others will have.
If you want the spring break crowd and more of a party atmosphere, go to Clearwater.
St Pete is a good choice for a little bit of both. The beach isn't nearly as pretty as Siesta Key (not many beaches are), but it is still nice. It can still get crowded but from my experience not as crowded as Clearwater beach can get.
All are good choices, and I'm sure you'll enjoy either. It just depends on what you want out of it.

A combination of both. We are young enough to still enjoy a good night out in the town but too old for "college like parties". We would also like to be able to relax when we want on the beach as well as do some beach activities. Food choice is probably the #1 priority

Clearwater. The traffic between there and St Pete sucks. Clearwater is a straight easy shot from the Tampa airport and there's plenty to do there.

St. Pete beach reminds me of something out of the 70s and the Jersey Shore.
