MASH is actually a very interesting book. One thing I found fascinating was how various people would tell Hawkeye (the standin for author Dr. Richard Hornberger) how they should get together back home after the war and stay in touch etc etc, while he would stall and put them off, saying he'd need time to get readjusted and so forth.
The implication is that essentially he never wants to see these people again, no matter how close they were once.
Is it thay way for soldiers in a war?
Dr. Richard Hornberger outside the real life Swamp, Korea 1952

MASH is a great book. totally different vibe from the movie and really different from the series. its closer to the movie, however with the dark humor
web griffin's brotherhood of war series gives a glimpse of the army from ww2 through viet nam, fiction, but accurate enough that you learn a lot.

David Hackworth's autobiography details a good bit of the infantry war in Korea.

Fehrenbach and Halberstam's books are both outstanding.

The Miracle of Father Kapaun: Priest, Soldier and Korean War Hero
My FIL gave me this book, I cannot recommend a better telling of a POW Korean war story.

I can recommend a book on the war of northern aggression. Memoirs of a service afloat. It's a great book. A snapshot of a different time.
