Stumbled across this short video on some roofers from Lafayette. Yikes.

Owner of a roofing company here. THANKFULLY as of August 1st some new laws have passed that hopefully will be regulated properly and will eliminate many of the clowns in the industry.
You must now hold an actual roofing license or residential contractor license. Until now, all you needed was a home improvement license.
We have to get permits for every job now.
Idk how yet but there are supposed regulate the door knocking and people will be fined for it.
We pretty much can no longer communicate on behalf of a homeowner. Everything will have to be done through the homeowner.
Another coming down the pipeline will be proving that homeowners pay their deductible

I believe Garcia as one with whom we had an estimate from following Ida. Whipped out his iPad for a long sales pitch presentation. Didn’t hire them, it was off putting.

I know plenty of roofing companies don’t make it but the several guys i know that started one, they do pretty well for themselves so it obviously pays pretty well.
Even if they love pay check to pay check, it’s still pretty solid paychecks

Yes, very profitable. They are charging significantly over their actual labor and materials costs. They subcontract these jobs to Hispanic crews who they then pay a fraction of what they bid.

I participated in the LA Fortified Roof program a few months back, and the number of "qualified" roofing companies in southern LA was absolutely insane.

A few years back, I would meet up with a group of friends to play Golden Tee golf every Friday after work. Like clockwork, on the other machine was another group - a sales rep with a roofing company and a dude with
B-paper mortgage company. Every Friday you could hear them bragging about how much money they made off each deal...

Those that downvoted, can you explain? You enjoy door knockers? You trying to skate on your deductible? Seems like all god moves for people that want to do things the right way.
