Recent Increase in Earthquakes a Sign of the End of Earth?

If there is some type if shift going on in outer space causing all these earthquakes would our government tell us? Would they really want us to know the world is soon to break apart like we see other stars and planets do?
I think they would say nothing knowing total chaos would break out.
