I know there has been a lot of threads on this subject. I just found a gilette double edge black handle adjustable in the original package. Got it in 1967 in the army. Whats a good blade that doesn't drag.

I use Feather brand blades exclusively.

Very sharp.

56lsu,
Congratulations. It's hard to give a recommendation for a single blade that will suit everyone. I'd suggest you get a variety pack from Amazon so you can find a few blades that work for you. Having said that, my particular favorites are Derby. Shark and Dorco.

I buy lord razor blades. If they start to drag I replace it cuz they are inexpensive. I like them. Got me a merkur razor and a gold butterfly razor, not that it's real gold, made in India I think. Bought them over 5 years ago and never looked back.

How the hell do you use those feather blades without cutting your face up? I will admit I was a noob to double edge blades the last time I tried a feather blade.

Dorco is just right for me

It all depends on what kind of soap/cream you use and how you prep your face. West Coast Shaving has a sample pack that you can get so you can try them out.

Safety Razor Blades

Started out using Derby and graduated to Feather. I also started using better soap

I don't know the secret but I never have cuts. And I'm not overly gentle nor slow with my razor strokes.

Might just be differences in beards.

Go with Astra double platinum blades they are better than derbys but not quite as sharp or aggressive as a feather and they are a cheaper than feather blades.

Once you get the hang of the razor you can step up to the feather blades.

I currently use a 1958 Gillette fat boy. It's amazing how nice of a razor it is when you think about how old it is.

I like the Astra as well. Proraso green pre-shave and shave soap are good as well

I just switched to a butterfly razor. Currently using derby and having no problems. I enjoy it more than Mach 3s I've previously used
