RV is not at all similar to the type of prosperity gospel pastor most of this board thinks dominates modern evangelical Christianity (in reality, those dudes are like 2% of protestantism).
I think he made a healthy living over the years and we can all sit back and decide whether 400-500k for a guy running a large non-profit, speaking all over the world and writing books is too much. But he's not Osteen, Creflo Dollar, etc.

I liked him. Went to an art show at RZIM headquarters not too long ago. It's a nice facility, and mostly devoid of any Tammy Faye Baker-style gold plating.

Ravi was one intelligent human being, able to explain Christianity's purpose and existence to the most intellectual. He was a great teacher! God bless his family and those close to him.

Ravi was a great intellectual Christian apologist. He was one of the greats of all time in that regard and was one of a kind.

I even studied in his ministry years ago for a brief time. I have never heard him give an answer without grace and incredible intellect

Not religious anymore but I grew up in a relatively strict southern Baptist upbringing. I will check this guy out. Christianity, Buddhism and Judaism are all teaching the same foundational spiritual truth. Problem is, Christian fundamentalists, like Muslim and Jewish fundamentalists, worship literally instead of metaphorically and that is where all of this divisive rhetoric comes from. If you really want to see a fundamentalist apologist get sliced and diced, watch some of the old Hitchen’s debates.

I don't see the problem. Most monotheistic faiths are by definition "divisive". We don't believe Christianity is a metaphorical path to the same foundational spiritual truth as other faiths.
I have no objection to your saying fundamentalism or orthodox faiths can lead to division and conflict. Any firmly held conviction/belief can do so, especially ones that relate the origins of all things or the purpose of human existence. But essentially, your post implies that the problem with Christianity is Christianity, which seems a little silly.

I have found that the manner in which much of the Christian religion is practiced often totally misses or obscures the authentic Jesus Christ. It’s really a good idea for every person to forget most everything they’ve ever known about Christianity and just go straight to reading gospel accounts of the life of Jesus. With an open mind and an open heart.
