There are rare occasions that the OT surprises me. This thread is one of them.

I figured there'd be a bunch of snotty nosed pecker heads screwing this thread up. Instead, there's a great discussion about the GOAT, Elvis Presley, and his band.

Again, great thread.

I have always wondered what brought him to become the Vegas Elvis, with the crazy shades and all of the gold jewelry. It just seemed so over the top and against his personality. He was in reality a very shy and private person.

I've told this story before, but I was on the air the day he died.

It came across the teletype (alarmed, so you knew to check it).

I broke the story and the phones lit up. More crying women that I'd ever heard in my life.

It really gave me an understanding of what he meant to people.

This live performance of Suspicious Minds was fun to watch.

Youtube

It’s oddly comforting knowing none of us will ever be even a fraction of the level of coolness as 1970 Elvis singing Suspicious Minds.

Along those lines, if you can listen to this following live performance without getting chills, then you’re completely dead inside.

Paul Simon on Elvis singing Bridge Over Troubled Water:

During that summer season in Vegas, Paul Simon attended one of the shows, and, after seeing Elvis perform the song, he was reported to have said, "That's it, we might as well all give up now."

My favorite Elvis song is from the early 70's: Kentucky Rain. Outstanding tune.

James Burton is a great man!
Google him playing guitar behind his head.

The man is iconic, but vocally, not very good.

Is that backup singer shirtless?
E’s low tone is so damn sexy with that accent.
