You can come to our easy to get in school and party for 4 years…gosh, we could have just left the drinking age at 18…worked great when I was at LSU. Met people from all over.

Damn you are right! Should have done a little research. Deeding the land back to LSU was a stipulation of their last return to campus. They were the only ones up to that point.
Im guessing they (their national) still own the house like most?

Nope, the University has always owned the property. Had a 99 year lease, which is up.
House is owned by LSU Dekes, not national.
If Deke had owned the property, we would have told the University to suck our dicks years ago.

Huey Long had something to do with building the house, which was completed in 1930's. His house in New Orleans on Audubon Blvd. is strikingly similar to the LSU Deke house. I'm have no knowledge if funds were diverted to pay for it, but he definitely has fingerprints on it.

I think you and I may have tread some of the same ground at the same time or at least know a few of the same folks. As mentioned earlier my BIL and his brother were both DKEs but they are a few years younger than me and I think I'm a few years younger than you. Think you might have been around Big Ed's class or a little older maybe - Murphys crowd? Hung out with a few of you guys back in the day. I was closer to Ponders age.

We had LSUPD busting down the door anytime we wanted the pledges over for simple calisthenics and cleanup on Sunday morning after gameday, late-night lineups regularly busted, no communal alcohol "officially", had to take hell week off campus...all because you couldn't control yourself and not kill people and animals.
ETA: I was actually only about 5 years after BW.
