Long exposures using ND filters?
Posted on 2/23/16 at 9:26 pm to lynxcat
My Woodduck doesn't have shite on most of this thread, but the rest of my photos for the past 18 months have been shots of my little ones, and I'd like to keep the off of TD as long as possible.
ETA: I guess this picture is a nice compromise. Actually ordered it in a 24x30 print from EasyCanvasPrints for Christmas. Couldn't be happier with it how it looks over the couch.

Love these shots. Nice variety. How are you taking such wide angle long exposures (light trails)? Are you using a full frame with a 10mm lens?

Thanks. The image of the skyline at night was done with a 24-70mm f/2.8 II, just a 30ish second exposure. It was taken at the 70mm end though, and is 3 photos side by side stitched together. Using the fish on that shot would have resulted in the dome and skyline being really tiny.
The ultrawide of the inside of the cathedral and the stadium pic was done with a Sigma 15mm fisheye on a full frame.
I do use a 10 stop ND filter in that pic of the yacht club, though.

What brand ND fo you recommend? I've been looking at picking one up. I love long exposure photography.

Wish I had better quality since this is a cell phone pic, but this is one of my favorite pictures I've taken.

Go up to Eagle River, near the State Park. Good chance of seeing one up there. Of course you can find Moose and Bear walking the streets as well, but bear aren't as plentiful there as they are here.
Will do but I wouldn't go just with the goal of seeing a bear. I'd prefer to see a couple things that came recommended by locals and if bears are a bonus, so be it. I'm from New Orleans and I don't know of a swamp tour I would recommend a tourist go to just so they can see alligators. Honestly, I'd rather they go to the zoo for that because at least the zoo gators aren't being fed marshmallows.
Either way, if I think I'll have some extra time, I'll be sure to hit you up for a recommendation on the OB. Thanks for the input...

Let me know. I can recommend some things and hell, looks like I'll be in the area then as I've been offered a job in Whittier that I'm leaning toward accepting
