Ridgeline owners aren't hauling anything other than their latte drinking fat asses.

I drove a 2019 Ram Laramie last week for work. It drives so smooth. The interior is awesome. I was a little mad I liked it so much.

Perhaps Dodge should focus more on their notoriously shitty transmission and electrical problems before they focus on tailgate novelties

Ridgeline owner. I've hauled a load of mulch and a load of gravel. Ridgeline handled it just fine. It does have 3/4 ton cargo capacity.

I came from an F150. Swinging tailgate and in bed trunk are the greatest thing to ever happen to trucks. I swing the tailgate out 90% of the time I use the bed. It's a feature I never knew I wanted until I got it now I don't think I would want a truck without it. Same thing with the lockng trunk. Only time I want a bigger truck is when hauling loads longer than 8ft.

Honestly, that's probably the only thing they're hauling

Based on the 2nd pic I foresee latch failings in the middle and a massive recall.

Seems about 20 years behind the custom market.

I have loaded pallets and bulk bags of seed (2500-3000 lbs) in the back of trucks with fork lifts since I was 13 years old and have never had a tailgate fail when sitting part of the pallet on it before I slid it all the way into the bed. I’m sure it has happened but never to me.

I don’t think anyone including Ram is suggesting a drop down tailgate might fail supporting a load. But you just reinforced the concept of the design with your statement. With the drop down, you have to set the pallet down and then push it all the way to the cab. With the swing open you can place the pallet all the way to the cab.

It’s a gimmick feature but it at least has practicality.

So you see the usefulness? Being able to load with a fork lift, as another example.

If you used your truck, you’d know that the traditional tail gate design doesn’t prevent fork lift loading.

Looks like something a trashy person would drive.

Yes or no this design makes it easier?

I'd rather a forklift smash my tailgate than frick up my rear fender and chasis.

And no it doesn't make a difference when the right man is operating.

Ive always wondered why specialty beds are made more by 3Ps.

Actually, now that I look at it, it's probably worse for forklift loading since the doors can't swing wider than the inside width of the bed. That even puts the forklift further away from the bed than a down folded tailgate.

It absolutely opens wide enough for a forklift
