To put your wife in the back before and after getting married.

So you can load your cargo easier. Seems pretty obvious
You don’t have to put something heavy on the tailgate and slide it into the bed

Now when I put an 80lb sack of feed I don’t have to throw it two feet into the truck or lay it on the tailgate and then slide it in. I have direct access to the bed
Guys this is pretty simple

I've owned trucks for almost my entire 26 years of driving and never have I thought to myself that I wish that I could open the tailgate sideways.

Tailgates already get janky at the hinges if you actually use the business end of the truck so let’s add more hinges to get even more fricked up.

I’m thinking people that don’t immediately see the use don’t actually use their bed frequently

Wonder what might be a solution to those problems?
How often do door hinges have issues?

When I load and unload a couple 100 sacks of heavy feed in a weekend, constantly leaning over the tailgate, throwing the feed over the tailgate, and sliding over the tailgate is a pain in the arse
This fixes that.
