Marko Ramius defected. So we have the best sub skipper on our side. Probably driving a pickup truck around in Montana with his first mate's round American woman riding shotgun.

And the B-52 is even older than their turbo-prop driven Bears.
No it isnt. Dont be an idiot.
Yes, I know B52s came out 70 years ago, but the refurbs have been recent.
The B-52 was introduced in 1955. The TU-95 was introduced in 1956. So yes, the B-52 is older than the Tu-95.
Both have seen extensive refurbs, modernization, and upgrades in the decades since.

I served in the 90's when the Russian sub force was not as active. But I have tracked an Akula off the coast of Georgia.
A good book to read that contains a lot of interesting submarine warfare experiences during the Cold War is Blind Man's Bluff
A number of the Chiefs I served with were cold warriors. they would tell stories of undocumented collisions with soviet subs.
One guy was aboard a submarine that is in one of the stories from the book. His boat stumbled into a Soviet live test of a torpedo (shot out with no warhead) and was actually struck by the darn thing. They limped into port with a Soviet torpedo sticking out of their sail.

Oh you and I both know that the Russians got the specs on the B-1 through their spies or their Chinese intermediaries and tried to "improve" upon it. Same as they did with the F-15/Su-24(?) all those years ago.

Not just on this board, but, elsewhere, I have seen all over the internet blokes who place an apostrophe between the root word and the "s" for every. single. word. that. ends. in. letter "s".
example: end's; shingle's; sock's

Oh I have no doubt they copied the B1. There is a long history of the Russians copying American bombers. Look at Russia's first long range strategic bomber the Tu-4 "Bull". It was down the the last rivet a copy of the B-29 Stratofortress. In fact, they used a B-29 that had to land and was interned in Russia during WWII to build it.
