Oh sure. Not wanting ones property values to go down is so racist.

Get a fricking grip.

They have been begging for new NBR developments. Finally they get something!! What does that dumb bitch want, $700K homes???
This development is needed and there is a huge demand for it in NBR.

Hopefully it happens soon!

Then why does she demand that every nice development have section 8?

That's what I'm saying. Time for it to finally be in her backyard.

I think she's right. 400 units would be very big and dense. It's going to be a major problem shortly after it opens.

It must be pretty awesome to be so naive that you think a massive block of government housing is what any area "needs"

It's time for these developments to get underway in NBR -- instead of SBR. And, you are so naive it that you can't see how that would improve your quality of life.

The question should be: Why is it ok for sec 8 to be allowed in our communities, BUT NOT in S. Banks community??

I fricking HATE sec 8. But, it's time for these developments to go vertical in the communities of some of these councilwomen's hoods.

Section 8 is a destroyer of neighborhoods. Happens about 99% of the time. Yet liberals insist it's just great hard working people who care for the properties and any opposition is automatically racist.

I got into a discussion recently about it with other people in my neighborhood. I live in a quiet HOA suburb well away from any trash. Unbelievable how some neighbors thought our area NEEDED "affordable housing" and wouldn't admit that affordable housing is a euphemism for Sec 8. When I suggested they go check out rental properties in some of the run down areas of the city with plentiful affordable housing, well I was being ridiculous and racist.

Yet, not only would she be ok with it being in south BR, she'd encourage it and scream RACIST after any and all who oppose it.

Sooo Chauna approved it in November but now that the developer isn't "playing ball" in her district and sliding money under the table to her she is opposing it? Is it just me or does that how the WAFB article makes it appear?

She definitely would. They should build 800 units as close to her backyard as possible.

Sounds like it

Wicker said the development was approved unanimously by the EBR metro council back in November and also given the green light by the Planning Commission.

I just read that this 380 unit development is primarily for low income senior citizens.

I guess they didn't produce enough kickbacks?

Not only did she mention that there are no schools around this "senior development", she also mentioned this was a "food desert" when there is literally a Shoppers Choice grocery store less than a mile from the development.

Banks has no idea what she is talking about or doing. Too bad her constituency wont realize this. I'm sure she will be trolling around the House halls in two years.

I really feel bad for that developer. It seems to me he followed the rules, and is getting screwed over by these elected officials. Really makes people want to build up legitimate businesses and developments in NBR, doesn't it?
