Race baiters try to create an issue in Lake Charles over naming a road

and they fail
just a note, for those who don't know anything about LC. we have this thing for pirates b/c of Jean Lafite. we have a major festival each year named Contraband Days. the body of water adjacent to this road is known as Contraband Bayou. the i10 bridges literally has buccaneer pistols carved into the railing. the "contraband" label has nothing to do with slavery and everything to do with this local association with pirates and Jean Lafite
Lake Charles wasn't even incorporated until 1861. we have no major history associated with slavery or even any major racial incidents, historically. it's a 50/50 city with tons of minority representation across the board. we just had a mayoral race that was split down racial lines and i think those supporting the black candidate are just trying to rally around this alleged racism that led to their loss and create dissension with the new mayor

This Morris person in on the city council? How could she possibly not know about contraband days?

Sooo... Even after repeating the definition she still doesn't know what it means? These people have serious information absorption issues. Sounds like intelligence is considered contraband by her brain.

I don't think Lafitte was associated with slavery at all. I mean not one iota. And the legend is that his (contraband) treasure (no slaves included) is buried in the bayou, hence the name "Contraband Bayou". Literally nothing to do with slavery at all.

I don't know what's funnier... the fact that she had to look up the word contraband bc she didn't know what it meant or that after looking it up she automatically associated it with slavery.
