Chantix

I've taken this a couple times, and it definitely works. It makes cigarettes just unbearable and if you smoke one you'll wind up throwing it out after a few drags. It takes a week or two to build up in your bloodstream and take effect.

The only negative side effect I experienced were the extremely vivid and crazy dreams.

Put them down and never pick one up again. The physical addition is over quickly but the mental addiction takes time, years for me. You will need to find a healthy replacement for them, perhaps exercise, that you can do when the urge is strong. You'll want to eat more, so be careful.

Make no mistake, it is hard to quit, and my success was due to avoiding socializing with other smokers, particularly if consuming alcohol. It can be done, and the rewards are numerous, such as feeling better, saving money, not getting sick as often, and a sense of accomplishment that can lead to other accomplishments.

Good luck, and remember that your brain controls your body.

I hear Chantix is good if you're ready and willing to accept the side effects.

I quit by gradually decreasing the amount of cigarettes I'd smoke a day. Eventually I got to the point that smoking 2-3/day made me feel worse than smoking a pack. I gained some weight, I got sick (and coughed up speckled mucous for weeks), and felt overall pretty shitty for the next few months. It was worth it though.

Limit the triggers like drinking alcohol, coffee, etc. and you will limit the amount of times you find yourself needing a cig. Best of luck to you!

Chantix any good?

Only one way to find out but I didn't tolerate it well.

Apparently it affects women more seriously than men.

I quit. Stopped buying them. Same as how I quit eating shitty food.

I was never a smoker. Just a few when having a few drinks. Took up Nicorette because I like the buzz it gives you without the nasty smoke taste and smell. Got hooked on the Nicorette. It took me getting up to a pack a day to finally wean myself off of the gum. Where do I go from here OT?

My brother tried this stuff, but decided to quit when he kept having thoughts about murdering his roommate.

I chewed the hell out of sunflower seeds, it really helped. If you can make it 2wks you're golden. I can still smoke a good cigar and not need to pick up a carton on the way home.

After having smoked for 20+ years and "Quitting" several times for a few months I finally decided enough was enough. I took my family to Disney World and did not take any cigs. Stayed busy and no easy access. When I got back to work it was difficult but by that time I had it licked. Patches, Gum never worked for me but cold turkey did. As many have stated, you have to flip the switch mentally from being a smoker to becoming a nonsmoker.

Well frick you too.

Based on me and wife's experience that sounds about right. I was tempted to punch people easily and she wanted to stab them.

I hear that cold turkey is the best method. Quit because YOU want to. You'll never quit because someone else wants you to. You'll thank yourself over the years.

Sometimes it blows my mind how many smokers are on the OT.

I quit smoking using Chantix. It was easy to do because you can smoke while you taking it. After two weeks I just didn't have the urge to smoke and I was done. The only side effects were strange dreams with people who I hadn't seen in years. Some of them were pretty funny though. Good luck to you.

Step #1 - You have to want to quit for yourself. Period.

This is the key. I smoked for 27 years. Tried quitting 3 or 4 times because my mom or wife (no pics) wanted me to. March of 2013 I quit for good. I used the patch, the step system they have works pretty good. Haven't touched one since and honestly, after you quit you realize how awful they smell. It stays on you, your clothes, everything. Hard to imagine I did it for so long. But yeah, you won't be successful unless it's you wanting to do it and not someone else wanting you to.

Quitting itself is easy. Convincing yourself it's easy is the hardest part. Cold turkey is the only way to go

This is the only real answer. The other methods are for the weak minded folks and even with those methods if you don't really want it , you won't succeed.
