So you, whoever you are, show up 70 pages into a thread and go after me, but don't care.

Sure.

When you have to lie about something that you did just one page back; well, that's when you know you're a loser.

And there is a reason for it and the generation believes it is justified, and there isn’t really a good argument as to why it isn’t.

he's commenting on it not necessarily bemoaning it one way or the other.

i'm a very old millenial or very young Gen X. Maybe Xennial?

point being, i get both sides. I grew up understanding the concept of hard arse work being a company man and also telling my work to eff itself if they ask me to have to work after hours for free. i remember a world without internet and i also understand how to use it.

i don't agree it's justified, but it is a real thing. we hired two millennial girls in 2019 and one just kinda stopped communicating. she came in and did her thing to the bare minimum, but it got to a point where my boss had to say "hey do you still want a job?" and she said no. was still shocked when she got fired. the other one just would do one or two word replies to emails and then announced she was quitting with no two weeks a day before her wedding.

it's really wild because i'm only 6-8 years older than them but our view on the world is vastly different.

Does your company go above and beyond for the customers or only do exactly what the contract says they will do?

Why do old heads get mad when people do exactly what you hired them to do?

You want more, pay more.

Same here really.

I ascribe to the job hopping point of view. Do the minimum amount of time needed and leverage it for a better position elsewhere. You will never be reward by staying in one place for more than a few years. Unless you kiss enough boomer arse to climb the ladder. But then you're part of the problem.

Did the boss give this 2nd lady a 2 weeks notice when he fired her?

Perfect example of the one-way street of employment and why there's no loyalty these days.

The Company: "You're fired, get your shite and get out. Immediately."
Also The Company: "You're sposed to give us 2 weeks to find a replacement! What are we gonna doooooooo?! "

Not every situation fits what I’m arguing.

Some people are simply lazy.

My argument is that the generation, as a whole, is nihilistic as hell when it comes to work and future financial advancement/accomplishment.

2008 and then Covid, all in the start and peak years of the generation’s entrance into the workforce…frick.

I’m lucky to not be in the corporate world. Being in medicine, I am marginally shielded, but I have a bleak outlook on things like home ownership and financial stability.

After reading some of these comments it’s no wonder that companies are looking elsewhere. It’s not all about reducing costs. They are tired of the entitled childish attitudes. Best of luck paying back those student loans.

I can understand that mildly.

I graduated college in 2007 (6 years for college due to paying as I go) and bought a house and had a kid.

Right as I was ready to move up, the market crashed and I took a new job out of town. Couldn’t sell the first house for any amount of profit so I handled both for a few years. Then Obamacare came along and took about 1/5 of the income I could have had. Finally sold the first house and started saving a bit. Then Obamacare got mixed and I was able to move to a milder plan. Taxes went down in 2017 and I could start breathing a bit.

Then Covid came and ruined everything l had built.

There’s self inflicted wounds along the way, don’t get me wrong. As much as I think Trump is a douche bag, my personal wealth grew 3x during his Presidency.

It generally takes a lot longer than 2 weeks to fire someone once it's clear they deserve it, unless they punch a client\coworker or shite on someone's desk.

You ever went to fire someone and got told you didn't have enough formal documentation and therefore needed to let them frick up a bit more and make sure you send multiple emails detailing how often and badly they fricked up? You ever got told some documentation can't count because you weren't clear enough in describing the ways that person sucks?

You ever heard of someone having to justify quitting?
