My grandfather plowed fields behind a mule.
There was no unemployment. No government safety net. There was also not an obesity problem because people were starving. If you think that we had it worse you truly are a fool.
It’s no wonder engineering is getting outsourced overseas.

Again…. I’m not the one on here complaining. That would be you.

Then post statistics to back up your stance.
Facts not feelings, snowflake.

I recognize a problem that will become untenable in the future which will impact all of us, including you.
For example, the nihilistic generation you berate will likely gain more political power than yours in the future which will have a horrible political outcome for all of us.
You will still be alive at that time.
Hell, maybe they’ll even come after that 401k of yours.

He posted facts. You just keep bitching, little guy.

You know, speaking of medicine, it would really behoove these old farts to try and be a little decent towards the younger generations. Not sure who they think is going to be taking care of them as they slip into senility.
"We're gonna rob you blind and tell you you're lazy, now come take care of me please."

Unless you plan on severely downgrading your lifestyle there is a 0% chance your stack is going to last.

The generation that was shafted twice financially is expected to not gain political control at some point?
What kind of fricked up impact do they think that will have?
This isn’t a problem that will go away.
An entire generation is priced out of homeownership until 20-30 years after their parents bought homes.
They didn’t really start obtaining wealth until their late 30s/40s.
Do we really think this won’t have a negative impact?
Really?

how about you spend your time learning your boss’s job?
Yeah everyone should ask their boss to teach them their job. That will go over well

And you still don't understand the difference between your generation and younger generations.
For comparison in just one field, my father, an academic, was able to gain his PhD with minimal student debt, found a full time, tenure-track job right out of school with full benefits, and was able to gain tenure in a relatively painless manner. He was also able to maximize his retirement benefits by adding in extra paid assignments in the years before he retired, as his total salary in his last 5 years before retirement was what his retirement salary was based on. He has worked hard throughout his life and has made smart financial choices, but he would also be the first to tell you the generations that succeeded him have no chance to gain what he did in that job.
They are working 5x harder to gain a fraction of what he was offered from the beginning. They are literally cobbling together as many adjunct positions as they to afford to pay for their own medical insurance and retirement plans. They damn sure don't have the luxury of taking a nap after lunch at home as he has always done.
This is just one field, but it is a pretty good illustration of how the same career has changed in just 50 years.

Yea even assuming his portfolio doubles in the next 5 years he's going to have to live on about a third of what he brings home now. And that's being very generous with his annual withdrawals.
I'm shooting for having MORE income in retirement, not a fraction of what I'm used to

Clearly I’m not complaining how unfair life is. I love everything about our current system. Life is good for me.
I’m also not that little. Anytime you want to meet in person I am good with it. To discuss out differences of course.
Well that is unless you are scared. I understand the Greeks did like to take it up the arse.

They ain't gonna come to your house baw. You'll get a bill in the mail or get locked out of your account because guess what, Fidelity ain't going to fight the government on your behalf. They'll hand over your money without a second thought.

They’ll just take it right out of the account.
That is beside the point.
The worst thing anyone could do is assume that the generation that feels robbed won’t find some way to “get what is theirs”.
And there is no way to address this sentiment.
It is far too late.

Pretty sure a lot of your "foes" in this thread would be on your side of that fight.
Guarantee those bastards are already researching ways to do it.

If what you've posted is true you are looking at a gross income in retirement of less than a quarter of what you have now.
