His restaurant is on the other side.
Ivars would be demolished. Edwin Edwards III owns that.

It's a complicated fix.

It is complicated by “environmental justice” blocking the approval of the obvious solution. But my understanding is that DOTD finally decided to jump through hoops to get around that opposition. They paid for a study to show almost all users of the Washington Street exit come from I-110 and not I-10. Using that data, they can overcome the “environmental justice” opposition by building a left exit for Washington Street and then they can close the existing exit without "disparate impact" on minorities. There are years of delays getting through the NEPA, MPO and political hurdles to get a project approved. Hopefully, something will actually change.

The rich families along dalrymple/LSU lakes keep this from happening. They dont want the ghetto dwellers driving and riding bikes through their neighborhood smelling like weed and malt liquor.

Quick fix us to have the plants change shifts so that they aren't all getting off at the same time.
5-3, 6-4, 7-5, 8-6...10s
9-9,10-10, 11-11, 12-12....12s

I use the Washington St exit sometimes.

Traffic engineers claim that continuing that lane for such a short distance would be innefective. What they claim is truly needed is extending that lane all the way to the 10/12 split. Unfortunately, 4 groups with political clout stand in the way of that:
The Louisiana Black Caucus
Black members of the Baton Rouge Metro Council
the bar owners in the Overpass area
Jon Bel Edwards
The Louisiana Black Caucus and the black members of the Metro council have vowed to veto any efforts to close the Washington Street exit or bulldoze any of the African American neighborhoods along the interstate.
Smokey Bourgeois, who is running for mayor and owns Georges under the Overpass, has fought such a widening because it would require his bar, Georges, to likely be demolished and moved.
Jon Bel Edwards used his power as governor to shift $250 million earmarked by Congress from improving I-10 in BR to widening I-10 between the end of the Basin Bridge in Henderson to I-49.
Unlike a lot a crap that's posted here...That sir is 100% correct.

Or how about better, considerate drivers?

It used to be no lanes, you had to change lanes to stay on I10 now it's one lane. I think a quick fix is to restripe to have two dedicated lanes on I10 and you can keep Washington exit. The two lanes from I 110 would have to be merged into one. Local traffic from north BR can hit the surface streets.

I thought when Obama visited Baton Rouge and the Governor rode with him to the hotel, the money was going to start flowing and all the problems solved. Guess not.

We just need more traffic circles. Traffic circles fix everything so just make a giant traffic circle around Baton Rouge.

please explain how extending that lane for 400' would help the situation. The two lanes from the bridue would still go to one, just 400' further down. You need 4 lanes to the split. Or make I-110 one lane at that point so the bridge has 2.
Yeah, I don't see how closing that exit helps much. It doesn't even seem like a heavily used exit to me. I don't see many cars coming from 110 and merging over to exit.
