I can, and it's legal here but I've been holding off for right now. Compulsive personality

My problem as well. I smoked a lot as a younger guy and it was just nothing like alcohol for me.

Depending on your level of use it could be highly unsafe to try to stop on your own.
If you’re drinking daily you’re succeptable to seizures and hallucinations.
I recommend looking into an inpatient detox program to be medically detoxed and possibly inpatient treatment if you can afford it and have the time.
If you can’t, inpatient detox for a week followed with intensive out patient and AA.
None of this will cure you but it will help you learn some tools to deal with your problem.
If you need to be pointed in the right direction, I can post an email and will be glad to do what I can.
Edit: As far as the family situation goes, it’s really not them, it’s you. When you’re in a good place mentally and “spiritually fit”, you can be around these things and go anywhere with no problems.
Rburgendy20@gmail.com I will be glad to do what I can, can recommend a couple of outpatients around La.

I don’t get it, honestly I drink every day as much as the next guy but when I want to stop, I stop... drank 12 pack every night use to have a cooler next to the couch until the wife said I was drinking to much and I quit for 2 months just to prove I could if I wanted to... wish you the best and hope you can put your mind to whatever your want to do and do it!

So you drink like, in the morning and at I appropriate times?

Woodworking, bowling, golf, running
When I need to dry out I fully, and totally commit myself to a hobby. I organize the schedule so I don’t have the time nor the ability to find a drink.
If you drink you organize your entire life around activities where it’s available.
Stop at liquor store on way home from work and get a sixer for example.
Find a place you enjoy where it’s not available and wait 2 weeks. When you want to take that same route home from work try another and look for an activity not a booze store.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way for some people. It's kind of hard to explain. You are pretty lucky that it does for you.

You know where you are with this issue. You can fix it. You want to fix it. So fix it.
Dig deeper than you are comfortable digging.

Replacing a fricked up state with another fricked up state is not the answer. Except that it is. The dopamine receptors in the ol’ Noggin don’t open quite right if you’ve drank for too long... a cold shower, a long run (only if your heart can take it), a simple sober walk. Anything to release a little adrenaline will pop those frickers open... the first time or two will feel like shite. But in 2 weeks, a month, w/e it takes the reward is beyond comprehension

I’m also pretty sure there’s a reason they serve coffee at AA meetings

I guess what I meant, Roger, is that weed never gave me the compulsive impulses that I had with alcohol. Anything can be abused, but marijuana never had that that same compulsion with me.

That's not normal? I get fricked up for 1-3 days in a row and won't drink for 4-5 days because I feel like a loser fat frickin drunk.
Maybe I'm not so fricked up!

If you can go days without drinking than you are good Mikelbr. It's the bananas up the chute that I'd go to rehab over
