I have this. It tells me 150g of carbs/day. This seems really high which is why I asked.

You can adjust the numbers on your macros goals to fit what % you want to take in.

so could adding something like a cheese stick during breakfast be good?

Why just a cheese stick?

I honestly am not going to get up to cook eggs or anything like that so not really an option

Why not?

Seems like you want to be in ketosis. Buy some keto sticks and see when you get out and just stay below that.

You probably need to up your calories a bit by around 500. This will give you more energy to work out and feel better. Stick with that and you'll be fine.

Dam are you concerned with how you want to look, or a number on the scale. You will lose numbers on the scale but will look like an hiv patient if you keep this up

It sure seems like. If that's the case, I'm going to just step out of this thread and let the ketobaws handle it.

Exactly. Throw the fricking scale away. You want to judge your progress? Tape measurer is better. People who become obsessed with the scale get real unhealthy really quick.

I'm not that concerned with weight. I really don't want to lose much more as I hope to gain muscle as I continue to work out. I have gone down two belt loops though. Don't know about the tape measure. Like I said I'm not trying to starve myself or anything like that.

An example of a day's worth of meals that is fairly routine:

No breakfast (going to try to add this)
Lunch: grilled baked chicken breast and a manderine orange
Snack: cheese stick
Dinner: 2 grilled fish fillets with grilled asperagaus

I felt full all day and felt like I ate enough, but only about 1000 calories and I enjoyed all of that food.

Are you a man? At 24 years of age, eating 1,000 calories per day, I don't know how you're functioning very well.

Eventually you will need to add fat to your diet so it can be used by the brain as glucose.

I'd rather you have that as a fuel than the proteins you are consuming

Look man
In order to build muscle you need more calories than you expend which of course leads to weight gain.

You need to find out your body fat % as well as your resting metabolic rate

Yes and functioning fine. I actually feel better than before I stopped eating fried foods and stuff. I guess I should point out that I have family history of diabetes so I saw a doctor to get some tests run just to see where I was at. My body doesn't produce quite as much insulin as it should and my cholesterol was a little higher than they would have liked to see. That's when I started eating a better diet (about 6 weeks ago).

My fitness has improved a lot. As in I can probably run double the distance at the same pace I could in February. I also play basketball 2-3 times a week as well as go to the gym about 3 days a week.

I'm going to try to increase my caloric intake some, but I don't think I'll be able to get above, say, 1600 or so a day because I really do get full from what I eat.

Dont care how much you work out you will 100% never gain muscle eating the amount of cals you are eating.

There's nothing wrong with skipping breakfast like you are doing so ignore anyone who may tell you otherwise. Aim for 1500-1700 calories a day like I said. As another poster mentioned you need to up your fats, this is vital for testosterone and hormone function.

To get in some healthy fats when cooking you can add a bit of olive oil, eat some avocado or hummus with your veggies, or have a pb&j before you go to bed.

You're doing well eating lean meats you just need to clean up some area's and you'll be good to go.

If you are feeling full from that, you may need to have some type of shake in the morning with a good bit of calories. Have like a peanut butter and chocolate shake and a tbsp of oil.

Exactly. My clothes tell me real quick what reality is......my jeans are tight these days:/

I'll also second what someone said on lifting. If the OP is looking to lose in the short term, do NOT lift much. Without the proper fuel, it'll backfire and lifting makes you ravenous.

My thing has always been focus on a lifestyle that can be consistent. Carb counting to that degree will fade and the resulting rollercoaster of plans is not good.

Throw in some oats with almond butter and a banana or some berries either in the morning or after your workout.

A tbsp or 2 of almond butter before bed would be a good 100-200 cals and clean fat.

Add some potatoes or rice with your chicken and/or fish for some carbs

That will get your cals up pretty easily.

By my count you are about 1000-1200 cals below where you need to be for a good sustainable deficit.
