The way I understand it, modern terminology simply refers (reefers?) to it as "weed," and "dope" means meth.

My dad let me drink way before that. Or at least knew about it and didn't stop it. Most kids that I grew up with that had super strict parents went nuts in college and failed out.
Sure I became an alcoholic at some point during adulthood but it wasn't dad's fault. My sisters turned out fine

Truth. We had one of those that let kids come over if they could drive there. Took their keys and gave the kids beer and hunch punch. It was fun the couple of times I went. But their kids turned out like shite.

The thing is you give kids an inch and they take a mile. The friends I had in high school whose parents were cool with us having some beers and maybe occasionally smoking a joint definitely had it taken way further than they intended. Next thing they know they have a bunch of fricked up teenagers running around up to their ears.

We could drink legally here at 18 back then. Pops would let me drink at 16 with my buddies down the road as long as I didn't leave the neighborhood. He went to bed at 9 and we almost always left the neighborhood unless we already had girls over
