Your immune system will get noticeably better from quitting smoking. You'll sleep better also. I smoked for 12 yrs and quit 6 yrs ago. One day, i had a virus and I never smoked when I was sick. After a few days of not smoking, i had a head start of about 5 days and decided it was time to quit cold turkey. The quest is to get started and it seems you have days under your belt. I'm not gonna bs you, the cigs will call you to want to smoke. You just have to not go back to it. Refuse to smoke. After a few months you'll feel way better and you won't feel mentally exhausted. Cigs causes depression and definitely cause a number physical problems including cancer as we all know. Your appetite will increase when you've given up smoking so you have to be careful with that also.

I know nothing about drinking and the fight to quit except alcohol destroys the liver and pretty much your life around you. Good luck man.

The biggest difference I noticed after quitting smoking was that I could smell cigarette smoke. Before, it was like the scent of burning tobacco was invisible to my nose. Afterward, a smoker could enter the room 30 feet away and I could smell it on their clothes. I had no idea how much I reeked to other people.

Let me just simplify it. Smoking has ZERO benefits. It will only cause you to die quicker. Drinking is a cumbersome thing. No alcohol is best for the body. Some occasional is ok. If you drink to excess it will not make your body feel good. Just stay quitted and get some exercise.

Don't attempt both at the same time. I did the same and after 2 weeks I credit going back to smoking with stopping me from drinking. Haven't had a drink now in 3 years and don't miss it.

That’s what they’d tell us in treatment, to not give up the nicotine at the same time. Hell they’d give us a couple cigarettes each day. But their rationale is we were coming off addictions to something that will kill you now vs years down the line so tackle that first and don’t relapse because you’re disgruntled over nicotine

Quit smoking 6 years ago due to a terrible car accident , my trauma surgeon said keep smoking and your bones won't heal . Quit drinking a year ago when I had a meltdown and threatened suicide . checked myself into a therapy center for 4 days and go to AA four days a week . Don't miss it and the pain I caused to my friends and family .

I’ve already been going to the gym as I train for my triathlon. I used to drink a 6 pack, go to the gym and swim 1.5 miles, then come home finish off the case while I smoke a blunt.

Quit smoking in 1978. I was smoking for only five years when I quit. I gained 15 lbs-150-165 in three weeks. Yogurt never tasted so good.

Quit drinking in ‘97, exclusively beer. Lost about 12-15 lbs of beer blubber around my gut. A waitress who used to serve me breakfast at a joint in Oakland was concerned about my weight loss. I think she may have thought I had a serious illness. Don’t miss it. Had two friends who died from alcoholism.

It took probably about 6 months before I noticed any real changes after I quit smoking. Now I can run for miles, I couldn't even think of that when I was smoking.

Isn’t it crazy how back in the day everybody drank and smoked and everybody was healthy and now nobody smokes and drinks and everybody is fat and unhealthy?

The first ten days for me were just about not going get a drink
I didn’t notice any changes until a month
I didnt start the gym until about 3 months after stopping
That’s when I noticed the energy levels increase and I was just so much happier. It also gave me more motivation to continue no drinking
First ten days sucked so congrats on that. It only gets easier. I’m at 2 years and I don’t even think about, crave or anything anymore and it’s been a life changer.

Quit smoking weed or tobacco?

Biggest benefits of quitting drinking for me were being better at my job, getting better/more sleep, improving cardiovascular health, and improving my relationships with my family. Basically I had the time and energy to be better at life.

Your clothes and fingers won’t smell like a cigar bar. Good for your teeth and mouth.

As for drinking you will definitely save money.

I quit smoking several decades ago after 10 years of heavy puffing and consider it probably the most significant accomplishment of my life. Likely 100 quittings with only one success.

Drinking?...I slowed down after the kids came but eventually alcohol became just a shot of tequila 3 or 4 times a week. Eventually I shut that down too and came to realized that even that much alcohol changed the way I mentally processed things.
