Question for Tacoma owners

Have 2015 TSS; have developed squeaking that is driving me insane. A quick search seems to show this is quite common for Tacomas. Side to side produces sound from the front and any weight in the back it will squeak terribly going over any bump.

Search also shows many places have a problem pinpointing the problem and thus the fix.
Anyone else deal with this?

GO to:

tacoma World- 2nd gen tacomas

There are several threads on this. Some people cut rubber and put it between the springs, others change the springs, etc.

That board has a ton of modifications for that model Tacoma.

Have a 2014 TSS... I had some squeaking and popping when I drove New Orleans everyday, since I've moved out of state and better roads it's kinda cleared itself. I was worried it was CV joint.

I wonder if the humidity has anything to do with it? I admittedly don't know shite about cars.

I've got a 4 year old and 2 year old in the backseat of mine. I've driven about and hour and 45 minutes with 2 adults in the backseat before. It was tight, but doable. I probably wouldn't go any longer than that with adults

Never heard front squeaking being an issue. But squeaky rear springs has been a very common issue. I put an OME 3" lift on with replacement springs which fixed the extremely annoying problem.

You can spray some lube on the rear springs that will temporarily fix the problem to see if that is what is wrong with yours.

Grease between the leaves of your rear leaf springs. Don't know on the front, could be sway bar bushings, ball joints, coils, upper or lower A-arm bushings, etc.

Also, there was a recall on the rear leaf springs. I'm not certain the 2014 model was included but I would check into it if I were you. 'Yota will replace the springs free of charge. The original/stock springs were shite.

Maybe a creaky leaf spring? Do you drive it off road or in high water or high dust?

This happened to my Silverado under those circumstances after about 150,000 miles. I put some heavy grease on the leaf spring and the problem never came back.

Stand on the bumper and try to hop a couple of times. I'd bet that it's from the leaf springs. If so, gets some heavy grease and rub it on both sides, then go for a ride and see if it is corrected.

It's an unfortunate reality with leaf springs in high dust or high moisture. It's not really a defect. Just needs some of that heavy, stinky grease applied.
