Question for OT watch experts

I have a buddy who wants to sell a Luminox 8400 series watch to me. The battery needs to be replaced, but other than a few scratches from normal wear the watch is in good shape.
I think it's about 5 yrs old, but I don't know much else.
He said he'd give it to me for $100. Any idea what it's worth?

Good price. Replacing a battery at a jeweler has always either been free or like $10 for me

I would buy it for 100 and send it to Luminox for the battery.
Local jewelers normally can't do pressure tests to check for water resistance.

Any idea what that costs? Can they repair minor scratches in the crystal?

They can replace the crystal entirely if that is what you want.
I had them do some service work awhile back and was pleased.

Watch with a battery? Probably should just save the $100 and put it towards a real watch.

I wouldn't want to wear a 5 year old rubber watch band, so consider a few substitutes. NATO, brown leather...
I'd see if he'll take $80...the watch doesn't work. What if you put a battery in it and nothing?

Yeah I thought of that. He agreed to pay to have the battery changed. So if it doesn't work it's on him.

I have a jeweler by me that can pressure test watches, and pretty much all of them can clean up a face

Fakier's in Houma can change it for around $15, but they don't pressure test.
I seriously doubt I do anything more than wash my hands or submerge it briefly, but I guess I should find a spot that pressure tests to be safe.

I don't pressure test any of my watches. I don't do dumb things with them so I'm good. Buy it and roll along
