"Reasonable fear" is more than justified.
It's not exactly "reasonable fear", though. It's more "reasonable fear at the time of the shooting with the information available then", not "reasonable fear at the time of the investigation with all the facts available after the incident".
Very important distinction that many people are ignorant of, whether or not it's willful ignorance.

GET ON THE GROUN BAW!
GET ON THE GROUN BAW!
Pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew
What happened to the era when cops would manhandled a perp, or simply knock the shite out of him to straighten him up.
Millenials cops are overweight pansies.

Right. I was referencing the latter situation I laid out.

Who's the kid and what does he have to do with a suspect in a traffic stop exiting his vehicle with a gun drawn and approach a cop?

Massive amounts of lawsuits.
Now people think cops should be psychic ninja social science therapists.

Does exiting a vehicle with a firearm in your hand give a police officer sufficient justification to react with lethal force?
Yes. The USSC has ruled multiple times that LEOs do not have to wait until they are shot at.

That shite don't fly in the era of HD video cameras on cell phones and social media.

How about forcing cops to maintain a physical level of ability (let's call it fitness) that would allow them to grapple with perps.
Too many go to the gun and fall back on 'I feared for my life'.

My uncle tells me that taking some folks out to the cane fields to tune em up used to be pretty common.

Jeremy Mardis. His father was pulled over by two crooked Marshals in Marksville over a fictional warrant and a dispute over a girl one of the officers was involved with. After putting both of their hands up the officers opened fire on the car killing the boy but severely injuring the father. One marshal was recently convicted the other awaits trial afaik.
My point in showing the picture is to ask whether the father would have been justified in protecting his son.

Well maybe you should go grapple with some perps holding a gun and let us know how that works out.

Really?
Who the hell is going to approach an armed suspect and grapple with them?

RFK, of course.
We all know how well he does with getting shot.

You know why they all say that? Because the ones involved in shootings that didn't fear for their lives when facing an armed person or waited too long to act are dead.

If he could prove that it was reasonable to believe that they were going to unlawfully assault them.....yes.

If I was a cop and a person gets out of his or her car with a gun I will think he or she is going to use it on me. Common sense is don't ever get out of a car with a gun with a cop present. You are asking for trouble if you do that.

Then what happens when a cop and perp are grappling and the perp is able to overpower the cop and grab the cop's weapon? How do you propose explaining to a dead officer's family that he was shot and killed with his own weapon because he wasn't allowed to draw his gun on an aggressive perp?
