Which is the same justification for all citizens.

If you get into a fender bender with someone and they are fumbling with their wallet getting out of the car.. and you shoot them..

Think you're getting off? We all know you'd be fricked.

Why would anyone exit their vehicle with a gun during a traffic stop? Are they going to compare guns with the officers come on dude. In this day in age where officers are being assisinated!

If you know they are pulling you over on false pretenses and you reasonably fear for your life you have every right to defend yourself.

Notice I didn't say it was a good idea. You have to be alive for a court to rule it justified.

I was in court once and heard a defendant testify he tried to take the officer's weapon because he was "afraid the officer might hurt himself or me with the gun so I thought I should hold onto it for him." Even the guy's own attorney was stunned by the testimony. The jury felt the same about his testimony as I do about what you just wrote. bullshite.

If you pull a gun on a cop, you better have a case that's as tight as a dolphin's a-hole

There's legal precedent for that. One of the guys at Ruby Ridge killed a US Marshal in self defense and it was ruled justified. They even gave him the gun he used back.

There was another case in Texas recently where there was a SWAT raid on a wrong residence, and the homeowner killed a SWAT officer in the process. Of course he was charged with capital murder but acquitted.

Stealing a cops weapon is slightly differently than defending yourself.

Let's talk about traffic stops for a second... Would Jeremy Mardis's father been justified in pulling a gun to protect his son from some crooked Markville Marshals?

It's possible, but when you shoot a cop, it's going to take some serious evidence to be exonerated.

Millions of traffic stops a week and you keep having to go to that one case. That incident falls well outside of a law enforcement traffic stop and everyone knows it. Maybe if he hadn't run from the police to some dark dead end road they wouldn't have opened up on him. Who knows? But it was prosecuted successfully as murder so I fail to see why you keep focusing on it.

Let's look at the dozens of times in the last few years when a guy got out and shot the officer. If you want to cherry pick cases.

To be clear I am not advocating for anyone shooting anyone. Just saying that citizens have a right to protect themselves too.

I understand. I'm saying that the power of the state is hard to defeat. Like I said, you better have a tight case with overwhelming evidence, extremely credible witnesses, and a ton of documentation.

And when a cop shoots you all it takes for him to be exonerated is to claim he was afraid

I'm guessing this was a 100% clean shoot based on the simple fact that Gravy isn't saying much at all. He knows this one is a loser and is standing down.

I don't know the specifics of that case.

But police have a legal authority to stop and detain/investigate and 99% of traffic stops are conducted without use if force and even less are conducted with unjustified force.

So you would have to be able to explain why its reasonable for you to know the stop was illegal and you were in danger of being illegally assaulted.

Well, he actually needs to prove it, but I don't want to ruin your little mic drop party
