Question for any car salesman here (or others in the know)

Woman goes to car dealer to look for a used car. Salesman says "you won't qualify for ours but I'll sell you mine for $3400." He does sell her the car (but delivers no door or trunk key and the car has issues).
Question: Are car dealers ok with their employees selling their own cars to potential customers of the dealership?
Woman paid $3400 in cash so she could probably have floated a note for a better car.
I've represented a lot of employers - generally they would frown on this type of side deal.

I'm going out on a limb to say dealerships frown on that.
That being said, on what planet would buying a personal car off a dealership guy sound like a good idea? Literally the biggest benefit of private sales is the other person usually isn't experienced on the selling end.

Honestly, it's probably a car that the dealership gives to the salesman. That dealership is still making money off of it. I think that rep is just blowing smoke up her arse making you think she got a good deal or really wanted to get rid of that car.

Yeah should get him fired. Tell him either give me my money back or I go to your boss and tell him you wouldn't sell any vehicles on the lot and convinced me to buy his.

I'm assuming it would still be massively frowned upon, but I don't know the other details. Maybe the car is worth more than the amount he charged, and he was just being a nice guy.
