Yes and a quick Google search will tell him what each means.

It most certainly can. Especially if it's the battery or wrong date/time. I like where your head is at.

Update:
*2 displayed "1" so its the battery. Now I just need to find this thing. Once I do, where do I get a replacement? Or does it just take regular batteries?

It should have a model number on it. I'd search online for a new one or contact your alarm company. They may be able to send you a replacement. They'll probably charge more for it.

Mine was a battery pack; not regular batteries.

Could be but you're not there yet. Star 2 then a 1 is the first step...when you are at the screen with the 1, press the number 1. If it still says 1 it is the battery. If it shows a 2 it is bell loop trouble ( an issue with your siren). You need a 12 volt nicad battery. You can get them on line or from an alarm installer / tech.

I found it and it is a battery pack. Really strange one. I was hoping unhooking it would make the trouble light go off, but alas I was mistaken.

Where do I find this bad boy

I ordered my replacement on Amazon. Just matched voltage/AH.

Is it still chiming? I think trouble light stays on, but chime should go away. I don't recall, but I know I left mine unhooked for the 2 days it took to get it with no chime.

Un hooking it won't do anything as the panel needs to se the correct voltage coming from it. Thats why you have the trouble. It's a 12v battery, once it starts to put out less than probably 11 volts, it's going to give you a trouble to tell you something isn't working right. By code, a panel has to notify you of this as well as remind you every 90 min.

You should be able to find that battery at any electrical supply store. Call around and tell them you need a 12 volt,4 amp hour battery for an alarm system
