I've been trying to find pics of young Victoria but the best ones appear to be her daughters.

Earliest known photograph of Victoria

But we can go the painting route if you want earlier.

I say Victoria. She has an entire era named after her but I do give consideration to Elizabeth during World War II. Otherwise when I think of Queen Elizabeth I think Princess Diana and numerous divorce and other tabloid scandals

If you compare the pics plus the one posted above she probably looked fairly drab in her everyday life but was enhanced when dressed in full regalia

You do realize King George VI was king of England during WW2 right?

What's you counter argument? I also give her credit for leading the modernization of the monarchy.

The fact that they still even exist in the 21st century is a credit to her

Yes. But I think Elizabeth's role was just as important.

She didn't "lead" the country in WW2

I dunno. But I keep waiting for one of the English royals to spice things up and try to actually take real power again.

Figurehead meant something to people during that period

But maybe "lead" isn't the right word. However, WW2 and Diana are what I most closely associate her with

I don't see anyone in that family wanting to do any real work or have power. They have a rare existence of Royal pedigree and money which gives them unparalleled excess. Why would anyone give that up?

Holy shite you suck at history

It's Elizabeth II, not Elizabeth I. Elizabeth I was in the 1500's

Elizabeth II wasn't monarch during WW2 her father was King George VI

there was all sorts of crap going on during Victoria's reign as well...just wasn't as well publicized...

Her eldest son pretty much screwed his way through life...there were scandals with grandchildren, all sorts of sordid little things hanging around..

Im speaking about my perception of her. Meaning what I think when I see Queen Elizabeth. Not really applying historical accuracy.

Also, in today's media she's mainly referred to as Queen Elizabeth with the II implied.
