We are living scenario #2. I get to go to work, Wife home with them. Today they started back to "school." Wife spent all afternoon yesterday setting up the laptops and login stuff. She just called and sounded worn out.
It has been raining here, so things are worse because everyone is stuck inside. We will make it though.

We have 2 kids a 3 y/o and a 2 month old and its pretty rough. We have to try to entertain the 3 y/o while the baby eats every 2-3 hours. We can't go anywhere except on walks around the neighborhood.
We have tried to stick to the following schedule so he has consistency and is entertained:
we eat breakfast, do an arts and craft project, dance to kids music videos on youtube (which usually ends in him watching a few youtube videos about animals cuz he misses the zoo), then we go play in the backyard, then we eat lunch, then we play with our toys inside for a while, then we nap, then we watch a movie or tv show until dinner (an hour or two usually), after dinner he plays with his toys for about an hour more, then its bath, then we read him a couple of books, then its bed time for him. On top of all of this, we are potty training the 3 year old as well.
Thats just the 3 year old. The Baby has to eat, take naps, and be entertained/engaged with when she is awake as well. She also gets a bath after the 3 year old is in bed and then eats one last time before she goes out. The only saving grace with the baby is that she was sent from heaven and sleeps from 9:30 pm until around 6:00 am most nights. Our first kid didn't sleep through the night until he was 4 or 5 months old. If the baby didn't sleep, we'd be on suicide watch in this house.
The day starts at 8:00 am (earlier for my wife as the baby usually wakes up at about 6:00am to feed although she usually sleeps again right after until 8:00) and finishes around 9:30-10:00 pm.
I also have to work from home and pretty soon my wife will have to go back to being an ICU nurse cuz her maternity leave is almost up. This will mean 3 days a week that she is not here to help.
TL;DR: scenario 1 is pretty daunting.
