Push Button Electric Trunks on Cars

These things drive me insane. In my opinion, it's a terrible "solution" to a problem that never existed. Also, I'm sure the repair is highly expensive if one goes out.
Am I the only one with this opinion?

What do you mean by electric trunk? Like electric latch release? That’s in every car baw.
Or power hatches in SUVs and vans?

I think he means that some cars don’t have a latch on the car itself to open the trunk. Can only use the button the fob

Try finding the "manual" release on the trunk when the battery is dead. Talk about a pain in the arse!

100pct agreed. I drive a German luxury car known for their ads that say "The Best or Nothing". The power trunk never works right. Granted it is not brand new and out of warranty, but there are millions of rusty Chevys and Chryslers driving around out there, and the trunk works just fine, far better than my stupid car.
There is no "the best" about a Mercedes power trunk closer. It is the worst trunk I've owned.

Weird. Mine rolled out of factory nearly 12 years ago, I have driven it for 9, and I’ve never had the power trunk malfunction. My biggest problem is when idiots close it manually and get their handprints on my dusty ride.

I just wish the button in my car wasn’t so easy to hit accidentally with my knee.
I have to constantly watch my dashboard monitor light.

my chevy has a push button inside the cab to open the tail gate.....not close, just open. I still have to get out to close the sob. it's so ridiculous.

On the flip side, for all that Toyota does well on their trucks and SUVs, when the temp is below around 45 degrees, the back hatch of our Sequoia is hard to open. There is a button to press, but it is beneath a rubber grip, and it gets stiff and hard to open. I wish it had an auto open or an option to press a button inside to release it, or even on the fob.

Do any of you still say “pop the trunk”?

Absolutely.
And I "roll" down the window still.

Well, I am on about the fourth manual latch for my Toyota Sequoia rear lift-gate, so maybe these push-button ones aren’t so bad.
Other than the latch, the Sequoia has been solid.

I have a ‘21 Highlander, the power hatch open and close works fine.I just don’t see the point in it.I did fine for years with manual open and close,in fact my wife’s Prius is manual.
Just seems to be an unnecessary expense and will cost a bunch to fix if it ever fails.

If you watch Top Gear and remember the Rolls V. Mercedes 600 test, I am of the same mind as James May. There is absolutely no problem with the close-your-trunk hand method.
