Sidney Torres about to come on Scoot show

I really don't want to hear from Torres pissing and moaning over the course of the next four years when he decided he could not run for Mayor at the last minute last month.

Sounds like he saw how absolutely corrupt the city is and how entrenched the mayor's office is and just said frick that.

I also agree that Cedric Grant retiring between the flood and the council meeting in order to receive his full pension is insane.

Yup. His little explanation of why he didn't want to be mayor was just weird. Like he saw what he had to do and couldn't handled it.

It is astounding to me that in post Katrina New Orleans this shite has been allowed to occure.

A slow moving tropical storm could flood half the city and in the teeth of hurricane season you privatize the SWB to try to get all your equipment online? What a colossal frick up.

In his press conference, Landrieu said he learned at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday that about 8:30 p.m. an internal fire shut down a Sewerage and Water Board turbine that powers the majority of the city's pumping stations serving the east bank of New Orleans

NOLA.com reporting SWB is being privatized at the mayor's direction

Why don't they just turn the management over to Jefferson Parish?

I am a fan of SDT and was hoping he would run for mayor. But can you blame him for not wanting the job? He has a great life. Why would he want the headache of having to spar with all the politically entrenched people at City Hall?

Also, I'm sure he had some internal polling numbers that didn't look promising. Sadly the demographics just aren't there.

I think someone should check to see if the fire dept. has this in their call log.

I do. I understand why he didn't run. He would have likely lost anyway which would have tarnished his image. Hold their feet to the fire for 4 years and throw gasoline on them all when he runs.
