My dogs go collar off inside. One time they got tangled up wrastling and one almost suffocated. Very scary. Luckily id just gotten a new, very sharp pocket knife. My gf cooked me steak that night ;)

oh and hey, little story. so being how big my dog is, i had been working for ever with him not to pull while on tha leash. he had gotten good, still not completely slack, but would pull when he saw someone or something. Well, i finally bite the bullet on a prong collar and holy shite. any type of tension and he backs off. it has made him being on a leash soooo easy. i wish i has done this a year ago.

I believe that. Unfortunately, many don't and it's not necessarily because they don't want to. They simply don't know "how" to.

Training collars work.

Many use the metal prongs however I personally prefer this (plastic):

Whatever a person decides to use, it certainly makes their walk more enjoyable. When not in use and you see a person walking their dog, it's actually the dog walking the person.

If a person has the discipline enough to remember, a break-away collar should be used for primarily everything, except walking or running with your dog ...

But when going for a walk or a run, remove the break-away collar and use the snap-on collar.

You're right. Some dogs, and I know yours is larger than mine, need more restraint simply due to their size.

Mine, because she is a skinny minnie responds very well to the plastic collar.

A collar with an o-ring accomplishes the same thing except the buckle isn't plastic.

I've said it before, he's a good looking dog. Mine just saw his picture and said she thinks his nose could do wonders on her.

Great reminder, thanks.

Also, choke and prong collars are only for training sessions. You shouldn't leave one on your dog all the time.

IYAM it's better to not have the collar on around the house at all. Just put it on when you leave.
