shite like Section 8 may well be the cheaper option to make them disappear until there's any real economic difference in how many Americans we can keep clustered somewhere near the median income level?

If the recipients would stay put and not constantly spread to newer nicer areas then yes I’d agree with you. But Sec 8 allows the rot to constantly spread.

Where's the list of acceptable disabilities?

Let’s just say it’s fluid. What’s good for the goose is definitely not good for the gander.

I’ve been renting to Section 8 tenants for over 20 years. I’ve seen it all. Most of them are good people, some are terrible. Many of mine work so their subsidy is a small portion of the rent. Some are lazy, sorry excuses for humans who will quit their job just so they will get subsidized 100%. They scam and get everything for free that they can. It becomes their way of life.

Almost all of them, even the good ones have kids who are “disabled” and “get a check”. You know what their disability is? Asthma. No shite. I’ve had severe asthma all my life and never thought about it as a disability.

The problem is that once you get one form of assistance, you just go to the next table and sign up for the next kind and the next kind. They get handed out like candy. SNAP, disability, social security, etc.. that’s the way the government buffet table of benefits is set up.

I have some that really need the help because they’re incapable of taking care of themselves. I have some that are fully capable of working, but choose not to. The help should be reserved for the people in our society who truly need it.

I’ve said for years there should be a time limit on the assistance. Honestly two years is a little short. I think 3 or 5 and taper it down. But once that’s over, it’s over. Unfortunately, this will just create a cottage industry of people who can certify healthy people “disabled”. And those that will grift, will continue to grift.

I reserve all my hate in the world for one man, LBJ! He ruined this country.

There BS. Asthma shouldn’t bring a check. In fact, nothing but being bedridden should.
