Depends on what kind of tinkering you do, but I don't think anything is hard for me. If you start with something simple, you can usually just buy plug-and-play kits for things. What you need to look for is no, or minimal, rust on the body or frame. That's a good base to build off of. Everything else is relatively easy IMHO.

There's a classic 70's Corvette for sale at a gas station on the corner of I-10 and Clearview just rusting away. I would do something like that. Some of those mid 70's corvettes can be had for very cheap and fixed up into something truly special.
